Watchman's Lantern SOLD

sold out

This is a prototype for a colonial watchman's lantern. I saw images of the original and wanted to make one.

This lantern has been used, or as I like to call it, "field tested".

The design has a couple of unique features that I have not seen on other original lanterns.  The first is the tube handle with a cap.  I assume this was to hold a spare candle.  The other is the door for the chamber under the candle cup. I suppose this was for holding fire starting materials?

The lantern is 13" tall, the body is 5.5" in diameter, 7" with the handle.  The panes are amber colored reproduction mica.  The lantern is painted with a black oil paint finish.

I intend to sell new versions of this lantern for $125, but this one is $90.
