English Ship Lantern

150.00

This large hanging candle lantern is a close interpretation of the ship lanterns hanging on board the HMS Victory in Portsmouth England. I worked from images and measurements provided by the museum.

The panes are light colored lampshade mica, which is a modern product made from mica flakes and resin. It is an affordable alternative to the horn panes that would have been used in the late 18th-early 19th century lanterns of this style.

The lantern is about 20" tall with the handle and has a brush-painted black oil finish, Red oil paint or an antique finish.
